the nose offers you aromas reminiscent of a warm italien summer day, with elements of hay and honey. even though this gewürztraminer’s nose is quite sweet, the taste is dry with a palate of herbs such as thyme in bloom. the flavour is very intense and provides you with citrus and pepper notes and a fine balance of acidity and minerality. This wine would do well to be served at 12-14 degrees to preserve the rich aromas.
serve this lovely gewürztraminer to a grilled fish, aged cheese or even fois gras.
the weger estate was founded in 1820 and six generations later, is still a family business. the estate lies in south tyrol, just below the alpine mountains. the high altitude and cool climate produces wines different from everything else in italy, more reminiscent of austrian wine.
